Upcoming cycling events in and around Western North Dakota.
Working on your event/race calendar for the summer? Here are some upcoming local events throughout Western North Dakota that are worth adding to your Bike-It List!
April 14, 2020 @ 6pm – Yoga for Cyclists
Yoga practice strengthens muscles and increases flexibility, thus reducing the risk of injury. Whether you ride competitively or casually, this class will focus on the muscle groups used during the repetitive motions of cycling, working to increase flexibility, as well as increase core and lower back strength. Class is accessible for all levels and no prior yoga experience is required. Bring a mat. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here.
May 2, 2020 – Dirty Turtle Gravel Grinder
The Dirty Turtle Gravel Grinder is a multi-distance gravel race held in the Turtle Mountains of Bottineau County. The start/finish is located at the Carbury Dam Campground approximately 8 miles Northwest of Bottineau, ND. The race weaves in and out of the foothills though a lush, wooded area filled with lakes and wildlife. 100-mile, 50-mile, & 25-mile race options.
May 9, 2020 – Burleigh County/Sippy Cup
A gravel road bicycle event throughout the challenging and scenic hills of Burleigh County. Two options: 75-mile Burleigh County Cup and 35-mile Sippy Cup.
May 24, 2020 – Badlands Gravel Battle
The badlands gravel battle grinds across 120 miles, and rolls over 8,000 feet of elevation gain on the fast and rugged red scoria roads that crosshatch the badlands of western North Dakota. 39-mile, 77-mile, and 120-mile loop options.
June 13, 2020 – Otter Creek Mountain Bike Race
The 2020 Otter Creek presented by 701 Cycle & Sport is a cross country mountain bike race that takes place in the heart of North Dakota at beautiful Harmon Lake north of Mandan, ND. With the addition of brand new singletrack at Harmon Lake, the race provides an experience for everyone as it follows the contours of the lake. The trail provides everything from canopy covered technical to wide open fast and flowy singletrack. This year's distances include - Beginner-11 miles, Sport-20 miles, and Expert-50 miles (3 laps). New for 2020 - E-Bike category for the Sport Race! This year we will cap the race at 150.
June 20, 2020 – Bad24HR
Log as many miles as you desire on the beautifully challenging Maah Daah Hey, Long X, and Sunset Trails that make up the BAD24HR badlands single track loop(s) racecourse located right out of the gate at the northernmost MDH trailhead. Make laps on the 11.5-mile and/or 2.4-mile loops.
June 20, 2020 @ 6pm – Git Lost! – Cycling/Camping
Put away your power meter, sign out of Strava and say goodbye to the podium. It’s time to Git Lost! The Burleigh County Bicycle Cult will be having a BBQ/Overnight Campout at Sweet Briar Lake at 6:00 p.m. How you get there is up to you; we recommend you Git Lost! There will a shuttle leaving Bismarck in the morning to haul camping equipment for those who need their supplies brought to camp. The BCBC will be providing food at the BBQ for all participants. This will be a free event.
June 27, 2020 @ 8am – Kidder County Classic
This is a self supported bike event on the gravel roads and hills north and west of Robinson, North Dakota. Sign-in and post race festivities will be held at Hanson's Bar, the oldest and coolest bar in North Dakota. This is free event and donations are most welcome. 22-mile and 70-mile options. The 1st place winner of men's/women's 70 mile route will have their name engraved in the Kidder County Classic trophy that will remain at Hanson's bar, to tell the world of your amazing feat, for all of eternity.
